Accident / Adverse Event Forensics
- MRI adverse events, from quenches to injury accidents, often have complex chains of causation. GRC is expert at forensic explorations of adverse events and translating complex technical standards or physics processes into language that can be clearly understood by witnesses, attorneys, and others in the context of standards and best practices.
Expert Witness Reports and Testimony
- Recognized by both State and Federal courts as an expert on matters of MRI safety, and having served counsel representing both plaintiffs and defendants, GRC’s Tobias Gilk can provide clear, concise expert opinion in both written reports / affidavits and in oral testimony.
Insurance Claim / Subrogation Analysis
- With expensive equipment and facilities, and high-value clinical services, claims involving damage to MRI or medical imaging equipment, and/or interruptions to patient care services can escalate in value, quickly. GRC can provide independent expert services to evaluate both validity and accuracy of claims involving MRI or radiology equipment and services.
GRC, and our principal, Tobias Gilk, have provided expert services for both plaintiffs and defendants; and imaging providers (hospital and imaging centers), patients, and manufacturers. Often MRI claims can hinge upon unusual physics, or practices that are often very different in MRI areas than in every other part of a healthcare enterprise. Tobias Gilk is able to not only zero-in on accident causation, but is able to communicate the scientific principles and reasoning in ways that are accessible and understandable by non-technical parties.
GRC provided testifying expert services on behalf of a plaintiff who was scanned with an implant not approved for MRI that was not properly identified prior the exam. Patient suffered injuries as a result of the improper exam.
GRC provided testifying expert services for two different defendants (insurance company and device manufacturer) in a single matter involving accusations of improper quench of an MRI scanner, and building & equipment damage.
GRC provided non-testifying expert services for defendant (healthcare provider), helping defendant and counsel to better understand patient injury causation.
