MRI Safety Expert Services for Healthcare

Gilk Radiology Consultants, LLC (GRC) provides extensive services to healthcare providers (hospitals, imaging centers, research institutions) to improve the safety of MRI practices and environment. With extensive experience in identifying both when things go wrong and when things go correctly, GRC healthcare consulting can help coach your facility to provide MRI care that is both safer and more efficient. Below are several of the services we offer to healthcare providers:

Facility Safety Evaluation

  • From as limited as an accreditation mock-survey, to extensive process shadowing, to facility design / construction evaluations, GRC can help evaluate personnel, policies, practices, and physical facilities to compare your conditions against standards and best practices.

MRI Safety Professional Training

  • When personnel central to MRI safety decision making are appropriately trained, MRI safety-related patient delays and scan denials go down, utilization and productivity go up. GRC can provide either on-site or remote training from as limited as minimum accreditation MRI safety training to training seminars for MRMD, MRSO, and MRSE roles.

Policies / Procedures / Practices Review and Development Coaching

  • To capture and formalize the benefits obtainable through best practices, MRI providers often need updates and revisions to ‘the way we’ve always done things.’ GRC provides review of existing MRI safety policies and procedures, and will work with your site’s appropriate operational and clinical leads to propose improvements that work with your equipment, patients, and processes.

Contract MRI Safety Services

  • From contracted remote MRSO or MRSE services, to outsourcing the administration of your MRI safety or quality improvement committee (arranging quarterly meetings, agenda, chairing meeting, minutes), GRC can either take over these extra duties, entirely, or can act as a development coach for staff to grow into these roles.

Many providers mistakenly have a false sense of security that licensure or accreditation is an effective demonstration that site policies, procedures, and practices are demonstration of the MRI safety standard of care or compliance with minimum standards of practice… they’re not. Consider that nearly every MRI accident in the United States has occurred at an accredited provider. If accreditation wasn’t an effective indication that those providers were practicing safely, why would it be an indication that your site is?

GRC healthcare services are highly customizable and tailored to individual project needs. If you have project needs that are different from (or a combination of) the above, please reach out to us via the CONTACT page.
